Hair Trend : The Return of the Ponytail

Heyyy Girls!!!
I shall do a quick hair trend post today. And let me start by telling you that this one's sure to get you jumping with glee like a little girl. Yes, its the easy-to-do, quintessentially chic and every girl's favourite. The Ponytail!

The ponytail has made a fashionable comeback over the last season and how! No longer restricted for bad hair days, the gym or when running errands, ponytails either slicked back with style or with a touch of glam volume at the crown, have been seen at fashion weeks all over the globe.

The best part of ponytails as a hairstyle is its versatility. Whether you have curly, wavy or straight hair, are of any body shape, color or ethnicity, ponytails can be tried and worn by all. You can even accessories your ponytail to create drama or look plain cute. Here are some super stylish pics of celebs and models to imitate and have fun with the ever classic hair trend.

The classic girl-next-door ponytail spells class and royalty. No wonder we have the newest royal family member, Duchess Catherine, wearing one.

Latina beauty, Eva Mendes, seen here wearing a high ponytail on the red carpet proving that this is one look than can multi task for many ocassions

This sleek, high ponytail created by stylist Guido Palau for Marc Jacobs A/W show was aptly named the "I dream of Jeannie" look after the popular show
This bold geometric ponytail created by hair stylist Orlando Pita for Caroline Herrera by blow drying hair with a centre part and tying it into a low tail just before looping it underneath the elastic into a triangle.
My favourite fashionista, Nicole Richie combines three different styles (the piecey fringe, side pony and low slung) to create one stunning ponytail look
This loose, low tied ponytail was seen at Reed Krakoff reflecting a simple, minimal yet sophisticated texture. Created by Guido it features tousled hair with a messy centre part and pulled back into a loose pony and tied with a leather strap.
This loose, low ponytail with some pieces of hair left loose around the ears was showcased at Prada A/W 2011-12. The clip seen here is just one of the many options you can use to accessorise your tail
Tennis sensation Anna Kounikova with a piecey fringe

The sixties style, side ponytail was seen at Erin Fetherston. With just a little teasing at the crown this look is perfect for the girl who lives on the edge.
A soft ponytail that send you back to the Victorian era. Created by TRESemme stylist, Jeanie Syfu, you too can create this look by making soft waves at the top section of the hair and gathering the rest together in a low tail at the nape of the neck.

The pony meets bun is a hybrid style created by combining two of the easiest styles to create an eye catchy look. This look showcased at Marc Jacobs can be your too. Sweep the hair backwards, high and off the face, without a partition. Now flip your tail forwards and pin with a thin clip, two inches from base. Then flip the ponytail back down at the nape of your neck and secure with a second clip to create the playful bump. Easy-peasy!

Seen here, is the gorgeous Amanda Seyfried, wearing a wavy and looser version of the pony-bun hybrid
Our very own Aishwarya Rai rocks a high ponytail with some volume at the crown to create a sexy, sophisticated look. This one is easy to create with some back combing, flat ironing and lots of shine spray
This French Girl Ponytail created by Bumble+Bumble stylist Travis Speck was best described by him as "Chic but not overdone". The windswept texture can be easily achieved by misting some texturising and thickensing spray through your hair before blow drying. Dust some hair powder to create grip and gather hair into a big, loose tail leaving light swoops of hair over your ears.
