Revlon Skinlights Face Illuminator Lotion with SPF 15

Since the wedding season is back again, I decided to review an old, trusted product I use as part of my make up for when I have to attend a wedding or any related events. Indian weddings are boisterous affairs all about flaunting what you've got. Heavy outfits with equally heavy jewellery are the norm. Needless to say, make up is equally important and if I may dare to add, has to be bold as the rest of your ensemble.

Today's product is a must have product for all girls. It can be used in conjunction with other cosmetics or on its own, you can also multi-task with it. Reviewing today, Revlon Skinlights Face Illuminator Lotion with SPF 15.  

Revlon says :

Revlon Skinlights Face Illuminator Lotion SPF 15 - Peach Light is a sheer translucent lotion that brightens the skin giving it a smoother and radiant complexion. It contains light reflective crystals for an instant glow. Vitamin A, C & E with SPF 15 protects the skin from harmful environmental factors. It's oil free and it can be worn alone or over a foundation.

Revlon Skinlights Face Illuminator Lotion comes with a built in SPF 15 protection for your skin. The Illuminating Lotion comes in a pale golden tube with a silver cap. The tube has a pump dispenser to dispense small quantities of the lotion right in to your hands. Revlon Skinlights Face Illuminator Lotion comes in two shades : Pink Light and Peach Light. Since I have a fair complexion the SA suggested I buy the Pink Light. The Illuminating Lotion is a liquid with a lotion like consistency. It is light pink in color and has lots of golden shimmer in it. You can see the shimmer better once your wearing the lotion on your skin. The shimmer is very fine and does not feel abrasive on your skin. nor does it look silly. It add a nice dimension, a gorgeous glow to your face and torso. The Illuminating Lotion has a nice fragrance that fades away after use.

Application :

Shake the tube well before use. You can use Revlon Skinlights Illuminating Lotion with a foundation or on its own. It is oil free and hence suitable for oily skin too.

Pro's Of Revlon Skinlights Face Illuminator Lotion with SPF 15 :

• Revlon Skinlights Face Illuminating Lotion is oil free and unlike other illuminating or highlighting products that are not suitable for combination-oily skin, this one is just fine
• You need hardly a pump of this lotion in your foundation or moisturiser to get a glowing complexion
• Smells nice, like a calamine lotion, that fades after use
• Can be used with any other lotion/cosmetic or on its own
• Can double up as a highlighter for use on other parts of your torso
• Has built in SPF 15

Cons of Revlon Skinlights Face Illuminator Lotion with SPF 15 :

• Expensive for a Revlon product
• Make sure you blend this well on your skin and keep it away from your eye and mouth area to avoid looking like a clown
• If you have a oily T zone or particularly oily skin that looks shiny at times, skip using this on your face

To Splurge or Not to Splurge :

If you have never tried an Illuminating Lotion as part of your make up, you have no idea what your missing. I recommend this as a must buy product for all girls. I may not re-purchase Revlon again and try something from a high end brand given there is not much difference between their prices and Revlon's. Buy an Illuminating powder/lotion today for the versatility of this product and if your confused on which one to try, Revlon is definitely a good option.

Final Verdict :

Revlon Skinlights Face Illuminator Lotion with SPF 15 gets a 3/5 from me!

Nivea Visage Purifying Face Wash

I usually get a spare freebie every time I buy a self care product at my local super mart. And sometimes these freebies are actually good and not just old stock the parent company wants to palm off on unsuspecting buyers. When I bought Nivea UV Protection Body Lotion (you can read that review here : http://girlsworld-himanshi.blogspot.in/2012/01/nivea-uv-protection-body-lotion.html), I got today's product free!

Reviewing today, Nivea Visage Purifying Face Wash.

Nivea Visage Purifying Face Wash comes in a see through plastic tube with a flip top opening. The face wash is a light green in color with blue micro beads for a gentle exfoliating action. The face wash is light in texture with a gel like base. It has a fresh fragrance that will suit even the sensitive to smell. The face wash creates minimum foam indicating that it is low in soap and will cleanse your skin of excessive oil without stripping it of moisture.



Application :

• Use every morning and evening as part of your daily face care routine
• Apply gently to dampened face, neck, and decollete
• Massage in upward moving circular strokes
• Rinse off with lukewarm water

Pro's of Nivea Visage Purifying Face Wash :

• Inexpensive
• Tiny bit of face wash (the amount on my finger in the picture above) can cleanse your face and neck, in short this face wash will last a long time
• Has a refreshing fragrance
• Gently exfoliates skin while cleansing
• Does not dry your skin up like other oil cleansing face washes
• Leaves skin looking matte for up to 5 hours after use

Cons of Nivea Visage Purifying Face Wash :

• Strictly meant to be used by Combination to Oily skin types

To Splurge or Not to Splurge :

I did not splurge on this one but I am glad I got this as a freebie. I would normally never try a Nivea face wash but now that I did, I would recommend this face wash for oily skin types or those with a T zone issue for the mattifying yet non-drying effect of this cleanser.

Final Verdict :
Nivea Visage Purifying Face Wash gets a 3.5/5 from me! 

How to use a 4 in 1 Nail Buffer

There used to be a time when I was a nail obsessed girl. Nail paints, nail art, gel extensions, filers were part of my armoury. A delayed appointment with my manicurist would get me anxious. And then I became a mommy. Yes, I'm the proud mother of a 2.4 year old boy :-D

Motherhood needless to say, turned my life and my grooming routines upside down. It's rewarding, the most amazing thing I have done in my life but a girl's gotta be a girl sometime. Handling a bonny new born with talons is strictly not advisable. But you know how old habits die hard, I would still try to keep my nails long and painted as and when I would find the time. It was a couple of instances when I scratched my son accidentally with my nails that I felt super guilty and in my guilt trip bit them off with my teeth! Yes, I was sooo mad at myself for hurting my baby. Well, now that he's gotten bigger and his grooming and handling responsibilities are split between me and others in the family, I'm finally back to pursuing my passion, nails! I shall be writing more posts about nail care and do-at-home herbal tips, nail art etcetera.

Today's post is my first step when I groom my nails at home, Buffing. I follow this with filing my nails, pushing back and trimming my cuticles, soaking my hands in a warm water tub with some herbal oils followed by a scrub and hand lotion massage.  

The following pictures are of a 4 in 1 Nail Buffer that I bought at Carrefour from a mall in Dubai. It's a simple nail tool that you must have in your nail care kit. It contains 4 sides to Even Out, Smooth, Buff and Shine your nails. There are two types of emery files provided with a black foam and a finer one with white foam . Make sure to not use these to buff your nails as they are meant only to shape them from outside.

I recently bought the Total Repair 5 line of hair care products from L'Oreal back into my bathroom. Was delighted to see that L'Oreal is running an offer wherein with every 250 ml. of shampoo that you buy you get a 90 gm. tube of conditioner free. The offer is valid across all drug store shampoo brands from L'Oreal while stocks last. Make sure you stock up on your favourite one before they run out!

Getting back to today's product, I will be reviewing the Total Repair 5 Repairing Conditioner from L'Oreal, a conditioner I have re-purchased several times and features high on my favourite hair care list.

The Total Repair 5 line has been a major success all across the world. Endorsed by L'Oreal spokesperson Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan across the Asian continent, I'm sure all of you must be familiar with the gorgeous Ash looking stunning in a red dress while claiming, "5 problems, 1 solution!". 

The Total Repair 5 Repairing Conditioner comes in a white plastic tube with a red flip cap. The cap is at the bottom of the tube like most other conditioners. The conditioner is white in color with a slightly runny texture which makes it easy to spread it over your mane. The Total Repair 5 conditioner has an awesome floral fragrance making it delightful to use. Personally, I feel it is the best smelling drug store hair line from L'Oreal.



Application :

After shampooing, squeeze out the excess water from your hair. Take a large coin size quantity of L'Oreal Total Repair 5 Repairing Conditioner in your palm and massage it into your hair concentrating on the ends of your hair. To avoid greasy hair, avoid getting any conditioner on your scalp. Rinse off with preferably cool water and style as desired.

• Does not reduce hair fall noticeably
• I always run out of the Total Repair 5 conditioner much faster than any other conditioner I use. Could be me using more than usual thanks to the nice smell but L'Oreal could maybe increase the quantity a teeny-weeny bit in each tube

To Splurge or Not to Splurge :

If you are looking to change your hair conditioner or like flitting between products like me, you must grab one of these. Its a great conditioner that repairs your hair and protects it from 5 major hair problems. Plus, its inexpensive and smells great. This one is a definite splurge.

The Almond Oil Makeup Cleanser has a thick, syrupy consistency with the mild fragrance of almonds. It soaks up easily in cotton pads and wash cloths and works well from within them to clear up your makeup.

 

Application :
Apply to damp cotton pads or washcloth and gently wipe over entire face and eye area, morning and evening.



Pro's of Bio Almond Oil Soothing Face & Eye Makeup Cleanser :

• Inexpensive for the quantity given in each packaged bottle
• A few drops of this cleanser easily dissolve even long wear and waterproof make up and hence this makeup remover will last me a long time
• Has the soothing, sweet fragrance of almonds
• Is soooo good for my skin! Almonds are rich in Vitamin E and anti oxidants and its oil nourishes the skin whilst removing makeup
• This cleanser is particularly good for the delicate skin around your eye area when cleansing your eye makeup

Cons of Bio Almond Oil Soothing Face & Eye Makeup Cleanser :

• As this is an oil based cleanser oily skin types should stay away from it to avoid breakouts, blackheads and clogged pores
• When cleaning near your eyes, the oils in the cleanser can affect your vision making it blur and difficult to blink, I find that kind of annoying

To Splurge or Not to Splurge :

Cheap yet good. That's how I would like to summarise this product. I like knowing that after wearing makeup which is not all that great for your skin and eyes, I'm doing it some good by using this Almond Oil based cleanser. I am looking forward to trying more products from Biotique especially their hair care line.
