If Bourjois launches a new lip product, I just have to try it! I bought the newest gloss from Bourjois for the festive season, weddings and new year parties that were lined up at the end of last year. Reviewing today, Bourjois Smile Enhancing Gloss in shade 05 Framboise Hollywood.

Bourjois Smile Enhancing Gloss comes packaged in a plastic case with the branding and description of this unique gloss printed over it. This kind of packaging is pretty unique to Bourjois, so it kind of builds up the anticipation till I can actually use this gloss. The gloss tube itself, is two products combined into one. One end has the gloss and the other, the teeth brightening gel. Both the gloss and the gel have their own applicators which are pretty efficient in doing their job. The gloss and gel both are pretty runny in texture, making it easy to apply over your teeth and lips respectively but the runny texture also makes it difficult to build up the color of the gloss on your lips. With a fresh, minty taste the teeth brightening gel is a pleasure to apply on your teeth as you know it will take care of breath issues but what I fail to understand is why the gloss also has a minty fragrance?? I mean, I love the sweet, vanilla like fragrance which is omni present in all Bourjois glosses, so a minty gloss is certainly not expected from them.
The gloss has a great color pigment, deep and bold with shimmer particles that are not abrasive to your lips or stick around once the gloss disappears. This gloss gives a long wear (up to 5 hours) with no need for touch up's even when eating and drinking. It feels light and natural once applied on lips without any sort of heaviness or stickiness.
Application :
First apply the teeth brightening gel on your teeth, gently rubbing the applicator wand on any visible stains. Then follow up with the gloss on your lips. Make sure to apply the gloss 2-3 times to get the color to really pop on your lips.

- Improved packaging from Bourjois
- Minty after taste from the teeth brightening gel
- Fluid like texture of the gloss and gel make them easy to apply
- Non sticky gloss, feels absolutely natural on your lips
- The teeth brightening gel is a scam. Sorry Bourjois, your my favourite make up brand but the brightening gel did nothing and I mean NOTHING for my teeth
- The gloss, due to having very thin consistency needs multiple applications for the color to build up like in the tube
- Expensive. Especially once the entire brightening gel turns out to be a no show
To Splurge or Not to Splurge :
Bourjois Smile Enhancing Gloss in my honest opinion is nothing but a marketing gimmick to keep the public curiosity intact in their cosmetics by launching new products with magical qualities and other such catch lines. But Bourjois need not play these tactics! They have very superior and amazing products which are appropriately priced. I love this gloss and bought it simply because of the striking strawberry red color and like its name very Hollywood.... Other than this there are no reasons to spend so much on a lip gloss when you can save some quids and try the Bourjois Effect 3D glosses.
Final Verdict :
Bourjois Smile Enhancing Gloss gets a 3/5 from me!
getting the gel on the teeth sounds intimidating to me because that doesn't sound very hygienic.

ReplyDeleteI agree, the teeth brightening gel would definitely help in the cause of germs. I personally, see no use of the gel and am not going to be using it. It's only the color of this gloss which appeals to me ;-D
Other users had some really good results after using the brightening gel and some didnt

Honestly, I think its just a marketing gimmick. You get better brightening results from good old soda bi-carb for the teeth. And this is a tip from a coffee-cola addict so you know it works. Also the hint of mint for your breath is mild and won't help much. You could buy one for the gloss. Framboise Hollywood is a beautiful shade and I recommend you try it.
